MediaMall Technologies Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 1, 2016

We at MediaMall Technologies (MMT) take privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, process, and protect your information when you access and use our PlayOn and PlayOn Cloud Services, and on websites or through software managed by MMT (the "Services"). Please review this Privacy Policy periodically as we may modify it from time to time. Each time you visit the site or provide us with information, by doing so you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy at that time.

If you have questions or concerns regarding privacy at MMT, you should first contact our Privacy Office via email at support@playon.tv.

What We Collect and Why

We collect and use the following information to provide, protect, and improve our Services.

Account Information: When you register for an account with us, we may collect your name, email address, username, and password. We use this information to verify you and to contact you in connection with your transactions, postings and other activities on the Services, to send you product updates and announcements, and for general corporate communications. You may always choose not to provide such information; however, this may limit our ability to provide you with a specific service or particular content.

Facebook Authentication: If you use Facebook to sign-up for our Services, then we receive the minimum amount of data required to authenticate your identity.

Third-Party Account Information: Our Services let you access your accounts and your information with other service providers, such as Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube. You may be required to provide your user credentials in order to access content from these other service providers.

For PlayOn (Desktop):

Any passwords to third-party sites that you provide to the PlayOn (Desktop) software will be stored encrypted on your local PC, and will only be used in secure channel communication with the respective sites. This information will never be sent to or stored on our servers.

For PlayOn Cloud:

Any passwords to third-party sites that you provide to the PlayOn Cloud service will be persistently stored encrypted on your local device, and will only be sent to our servers via secure channel communication when needed to login to the respective third-party sites on your behalf to facilitate browsing of content libraries and initiating video recordings.  This information will never be persistently stored on our servers, and will only be temporarily stored encrypted on our servers for the duration of these activities.

Payment Information: If you place an order for one of our products, you may be required to enter your credit card number and information, as well as your address and/or other contact information. Our credit card transaction data is processed and stored by PayPal or Vantiv — please see the section on security for more information.

Transactional Data: We collect information from and about the devices you use to access the Services. This includes things like IP addresses, the type of browser and device you use, and identifiers associated with your devices.

Phone Number: If you provide us with a phone number, neither MMT nor third-party vendors handling requests containing your phone number will ever store or share your phone number information.

Cookies and Pixel Tags: We use technologies such as cookies and pixel tags to optimize your experience by ensuring that the most relevant information, searches, and offers are displayed to you while using the Services. Cookies are strings of text and numbers that can identify your computer to us when you use the Services, and which may be correlated with your information in our log files. You can set your browser to not accept cookies, but this may limit your ability to use the Services. MMT uses pixel tags to gather information about the emails we send to our users. Pixel tags are tiny graphic files, not visible to the human eye, that are included in our HTML-encoded email messages. When such a message is opened in an HTML-capable email program, the recipient's computer will access our email provider's server to retrieve the pixel tag file, allowing us to record and store, along with your email address, the date and time the recipient viewed the message, and other standard logging information. The pixel tag also may see or read cookies.

Tracking Software: Our software sends installation tracking to our servers, which is used to calculate the raw total numbers of licensed and trial installations of our products. PlayOn and PlayOn Cloud account login information is also validated by our server.

Our software additionally tracks video browsing and playback metadata for statistical purposes. We do not divulge this information from individual customers to third parties, and typically only use it for analysis of aggregate data. We will, from time to time, use it to inform customers of content or special offers that may be of interest to them. We may also use it to detect errors with playback of certain titles or channels.

Support Requests:

Support requests send a copy of diagnostic logs to our support team to enable us to assess the problem you are having. These logs contain binary data about your PlayOn and PlayOn Cloud installations. The information in these logs may include:

  • PC or client device information: operating system version, CPU, RAM, free HDD space, security software status, etc.
  • Basic discovery information regarding other media devices on your network.
  • Video playback attempts and their timestamps, as well as playback status (errors, serve rates, etc.).
  • Usernames for third party sites (Netflix and Hulu as examples), but not the respective passwords.

Without this information, we cannot support your PlayOn or PlayOn Cloud installation.

Other

Some pages on the PlayOn website collect demographic data about visitors. MMT is unable to link this data to individuals and is only able to see aggregate data through Google reporting. This data can be used by Google to serve targeted internet advertisements to customers. If you wish to opt out of this tracking you may do so here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/

Disclosure of Information

MMT may share information as described below, but we do not sell it to advertisers or other third-parties.

We may disclose your information if necessary in order to complete a transaction such as the fulfillment of an order or purchase placed by you.

It is possible that as we continue to develop the PlayOn and PlayOn Cloud Services and business, MMT and/or related assets may be acquired. In such a transaction, customer information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

MMT may disclose information about your account or the contents of your private communications if required to do so (1) by law or court order, (2) to protect MMT's rights and property, (3) to protect against unauthorized use of the Services, and (4) during emergencies such as when we believe someone's physical safety is at risk. You have a right to know if we are required by law to disclose your information. As such, before we disclose your information in response to a law enforcement request (for example, a subpoena or court order), we will notify you at the email address you have provided to us, unless (a) we are prohibited from doing so or (b) in emergency cases where notice could create a risk of injury or death to an identifiable individual or group of individuals, or the case involves potential harm to minors. In such cases, we might delay notice to you.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any legal defenses or objections that you may have to a third party's, including the government's, request to disclose your information.
